Lost and Found

One day, my friend and I decided to go hiking. We are not experienced hikers, but we are not beginners either and we have done couple of hikes together. Since the early morning, we followed the instructions on the internet, although, we had some minor problems and directions didn’t match what we saw in front of us, even though according to GPS we were at right place. Firstly, by looking for starting point, which was not where the map said it should be, we lost an hour of our time. When we finally stumbled upon it and followed the signs, the markings suddenly started to thin out – signs were missing at important junctions and so we had to try several directions many times before we found the right one.

The way up was „never ending“, the terrain climbed quite steeply and we felt like we wouldn’t make it back in time to catch the bus home. We finally climbed to the top and after a short rest we headed down. We were driven by the stress of whether we would catch one of the few buses that left the village. We were in a hurry and accidentally drove off the blue tourist sign onto the yellow one, we still don’t know how it could have happened.

The yellow sign went much more around and it became clear that we wouldn’t catch the bus and would have to wait several hours for the next one. We accepted it and suddenly there was no yellow sign anywhere around. We only had 2 choices: going back down the yellow one for about an hour and try to find the original blue one, or try to make it down without markings.

We were exhausted, so we chose the second option. We started to panic, the terrain wasn’t dropping and we were still pretty high. After a few minutes, the forest terrain, full of swamps and bushes, began to drop down. The forest looked the same everywhere and it didn’t end anywhere.

We began to pray desperately to find a way out. After another 5 minutes we saw an asphalt road. We both started crying and thanking God for helping us to get out of the wandering forest. We walked along the asphalt road to the bus stop, where we realised there was a bus coming in a few minutes.

Not only did God help us get out of the forest before dark, but He also provided a way home! Glory to Jesus!
