A year and a half ago, I noticed that my cat started limping. Painkillers didn’t help and even caused digestive issues. In our town, no one knew how to handle her case.
The treatment wasn’t working—she was vomiting, had diarrhea, and I didn’t know whether to change the medication, lower the dose, or stop it altogether. We went to a higher-level clinic in Kosice.
At the clinic in Kosice, they repeated the X-rays because the images from our local vet were of poor quality. On the new scans, areas with significantly different bone density suddenly became visible.
They mentioned a biopsy (tissue sampling for examination), but immediately ruled it out because the diseased bone tissue could be damaged, the bone could crack and crumble. So after several tests and follow-up X-rays, we were given a diagnosis: bone cancer. They recommended another round of treatment to reduce inflammation and pain while we decided how to proceed.
But our cat didn’t tolerate any form of treatment. The limping didn’t go away, and the vomiting and diarrhea continued.
After another consultation, they suggested trying a new medication, but I refused. We scheduled another appointment for follow-up X-rays to assess the situation…
After the examination, the doctor concluded that the condition was worsening. He was convinced it was a malignant and very aggressive type of bone cancer that spreads quickly. He proposed leg amputation, which I declined.
🌟 Deep down, I felt that something wasn’t right—that this wasn’t the right solution—and I began to deal with it through Jesus. I had already experienced God’s power in my life many times. I had been healed by God, despite doctors saying it wasn’t possible. Back then, Stano, who leads our prayer group, prayed for me.
So I knew that prayer truly works. I prayed for my cat, laid hands on her sore leg just like Jesus and his disciples did when they prayed for the sick. I tried to “get God’s power” into her. I know Jesus came to save people, not animals. But I also know that the Bible says in many places that God gave us animals and all of creation to care for – to rule over (Psalm 8, Genesis 1:26–28, Genesis 2:19, Deuteronomy 7:12–13).
„What is mankind that you are mindful of them… You made them rulers over the works of your hands; you put everything under their feet: all flocks and herds, and the animals of the wild, the birds in the sky, and the fish in the sea, all that swim the paths of the seas. Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!“ (Bible – Psalm 8)
We went for one more follow-up exam, where we were told that even amputation no longer made sense. The cancer was progressing too quickly for it to be worth fighting. They said we’d need a full-body X-ray and ultrasound of all organs to rule out metastases.
But ultimately, they gave her only a few months to live—months full of excruciating pain, after which euthanasia would be necessary to prevent her from suffering…
According to the doctor, she had a maximum of 2 months to live and then euthanasia would follow.
🌟 Two months passed, then three, then six, then a year… I prayed intensely for her leg, thanked Jesus for the inner voice that told me not to give up but to fight and pray…
🌟 A year and a half has passed, and my cat—though she still limps a little—is full of life, has a healthy appetite, runs, jumps, and brings joy to us and our children.
🌟 God was glorified even in this situation and blessed us and our household, just as He promises in the Bible: “You, Lord, preserve both people and animals.” (Bible – Psalm 36:7 NIV)
